Horticulture Course Bears Fruit
Recent surveys have found that many people are returning to growing their own fruit and vegetables. Whilst this is in part due to increasing prices at the supermarkets, it is also because home-grown produce tastes better. Most of us can stick a tomato plant in a grow-bag and achieve some level of success, but growing berry plants is a little more complicated. This is where the extensively revised course on Berry Production by ACS Distance Education comes in. Not only does this course easily satisfy the needs of the home gardener but it is comprehensive enough to enhance the professional grower’s knowledge and skills as well as their ability to develop strategies for commercial success. The recent revision has enabled the inclusion of current trends and methods for growing berry fruit. Upon completion, students will be able to select the best berry species suited to a particular region. Important aspects of this course include soil and site selection, propagation, cultural requirements, harvesting, and marketing for a wide range of berry species.
